Dear Doctor Hansen,
You will remember that it was March of 1998 when we talked with you about
getting Hank off of Phenobarbital and lithium. We made that adjustment
and things have been improving ever since. He is calmer, quieter, does
not get on his repetitive subject, answers questions more directly
and is able to work better…. We decided that Hank had out
grown the sheltered workshop and was ready for a step up in employment.
So after and interview on Tuesday, he went for his first day of work
on Friday, September 24th. This is a place of competitive employment
and the workers are guaranteed at least a minimum wage (as compared
with the less than $50.00 per week in the previous place) His dad was
even surprised by Hank’s clear and concise answers to the questions
in the interview. He reeled off his work experience from six different
employment sites, complete with job descriptions. All the while the
interviewer was taking notes. The actually change to the new job was
also surprisingly smooth. There wasn’t the anxious anticipation,
accompanied by loud irrelevant talk and objections. We know this could
have never have happened without the counsel you gave us and we are
thankful every day for the improvement we see in him.
