Cholesterol - Does Salt Raise Levels

QUESTION: I was wondering if salt is a important factor for high cholesterol? does salt give you high cholesterol or raise the risks of having high cholesterol?  Heather

ANSWER: Dear Heather,
No. Salt does not affect cholesterol. However, too much salt can raises blood pressure. If you are craving salt that is a sign of stress on your adrenal glands and the need to support them. For my patients with this problem I recommend a product called Tranquil Clarity.
